About Merissa
Merissa Mathews, LCSW
As a Psychotherapist, I am passionate about supporting my clients in finding their path, removing the things that don’t serve them, and finding what empowers them. I am understanding, compassionate, and respectful to my clients’ individual experiences. I work with all ages and help guide my clients in building a strong foundation for a new way to experience, engage, and see life.
I bring to my practice extensive experience as a clinical trauma therapist, EMDR clinician, addiction treatment, entrepreneur, community organization and outreach, and children and adolescents’ advocate. I received my Bachelors of Art in Psychology from California State University, San Marcos and my Masters in Social Work from University of Southern California. I am a certified EMDR therapist with an approach that combines IFS/Parts work and attachment based.
“Vulnerability is not winning or losing. It’s having the courage to show up when you can’t control the outcome.”

Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.
